Our 4 yr old son received this for Christmas & it's his favorite game to play on his Leapster2. From what I've seen of it, he chases after letters & numbers on it. It's nice when a game combines education & fun. He's very into cars & racing right now so this game is perfect for him.

This is a good game, but not the most fun game Leapster has come up with. My son likes it b/c he liked the movie, but it doesn't hold his attention for long. I have noticed an improvement in his letter and number skills though.

"Daughter goes back to this toy every time!" 2009-12-31
By Jennifer S. Martin (Montpelier, OH USA)
My husband and I got this toy for our daughter's first birthday this past November. Assembly was very simple and the train is very sturdy. It can be knocked over, but doesn't tip too easily, even on carpet. Out of all the toys she got for her birthday, AND for Christmas, this one is her favorite. She will play with her other toys, but then ultimately return to her VTech train. She can sit on the back part and loves to play with the ABC blocks. She has lots of fun inserting the blocks through the top slot and watching them get tossed to the back of the train. This is a great feature and makes clean up much more fun. She is also able to insert the blocks into the side of the train. She also enjoys the flip pages and hearing the songs it plays. We also have a 5 year old daughter that likes to play with the train. She listens to the songs and inserts the alphabet letters that the song instructs her to insert. She also takes the blocks and spells words out on the floor. This was an awesome toy purchase and well worth the money!

Both my 4 yr old and 2 yr old sons are big Scooby Doo fans. They show the old shows on Boomerang Network here in Singapore. They already had the tag pen so this purchase was a no brainer. Kids love the story and the games, they've unlocked 4 of the 6 rewards too( rewards are kind of weak in my book but kids love getting them). Only negative is matching the parts of the castle with the words, very hard for the kids. They've looked at this book well over 50X so I consider it a good buy

"Not exactly what I expected" 2009-12-23
By Kingston's Mommy (Jacksonville, FL)
The toy doesn't do too much, and its very light weight. My 9 month old pulls on the basketball rim and it tumbles over, I'm still trying to find the purpose of the t-ball stand, it doesn't do anything at all, its hard to get it to spin when you hit it with the bat. My son likes the football because when you grab it, it spins around and makes a lot of noise. I'm pretty sure there are other toys out there sports related with some type of educational value. Although it does cheer when you score a goal and it counts your shots.

 "Epic Fail" 2009-10-19
By KYP (Lakewood, CO United States)
I've never tried Little Tikes toys before so when Toys R Us had a sale (buy 1 get 1) I was like let's try them out. Got 6 things. The Sports Center, Tool Bench, Guitar, Xylophone and 2 30th Anniversary Coupes. EPIC FAIL on all except the coupes.

The toys are cheaply made with little to no thrills. They're essentially 1 dimensional toys with just the "play" factor. The ones that have sounds have a limited capacity with barely audible noise/music. I have been intrigued with most of my son's toys, this one lasted barely a minute out of the box before we moved on and opened another toy. Awful waste of money.

Why I didn't like the Sports Center:

The scoreboard counts to 10 - then does a half cheer and resets to 0. That's it, nothing more - no music - no sound effects beyond a cheer - nothing snazzy or jazzy about this toy. The football - just spins, the baseball, the ball doesn't detach, the bat is lame. It's a very limited toy in the education department, things that he's been doing or learning with other toys.

What I'm going to do:

Try to return it - if they'll take it back, if not, I'll just chalk it up to a loss

What I did:

Went and got the Fisher Price Brilliant Basics First Baseball - so far AMAZING!! The ball is attached for baby's use now, as he gets older, the holder rises and he can swing the bat and hit the ball (coordination pending). Really recommend that toy instead of this waste of space Little Tikes Sports Center

What I learned:

Stick to Fisher Price - Little Tikes is great for large toys (ride ones) but not so much for the little stuff. Do not get my money's worth.

 "Not much to it:(" 2009-08-15
By New mom (NOLA)
A friend gave this to my now 9 month old as a gift. He pulls the net area and it tips towards him. The football is just a rattle to spin. the bat and baseball might as well not even be there. When he drops the ball through the net, it makes cheering noises and adds points on the score board. After 3 dunks, he's off to the next toy.

 "Love LeapFrog Products" 2010-01-09
By Shelly K. (Cleveland, OH)
This was purchased for a 3 year old. At first he was really hesitant about the toy. His 7 year old brother loves it and is often trying to get the high score. It can be played as a 1 or 2 player game. We found that the kids get impatient trying to take turns. Especially, when they figure out the sequence. The game is not excessively loud and is good in the car. It plays several sequences in the form of songs with different levels. It doesn't seem to repeat the answers in the same patterns. A good toy to grow with.

 "Maybe I'm missing something..." 2010-01-05
By Aeonix (St. Louis, MO USA)
But this toy hasn't been very interesting to my daughter at all. She's 3, and a very bright child, but this toy has never even made it properly out of the packaging. Maybe she will be like another reviewer's child and go back to it later and love it, but so far, she's not had any interest in it. She played with it for a few minutes the day she got it and I've not seen her play with it since.

Maybe we have a bad one, but it doesn't seem to have any way to differentiate the different parts of the sequence . All the lights flash at the same time no matter what setting or sequence it's playing at the time, so my daughter will try to get to the very first one, and if she gets it wrong more than a couple of times, it skips to a new game. The sound also seems to come out of one main area, so even listening to get the sequence right by judging where the sound came from is impossible. It doesn't have a demo mode, so I know that's not it. I expected better from Leap Frog.

Sorting is something he loves to do.

"It's a bit unwieldy but my son loves it" 2010-01-29
By M. Moloney
First the downsides:

1) the ball is very heavy. It always seems like it's prone to cause injuries due to its heft (but this has never been an actual problem).

2) I don't really think this does anything to encourage crawling. My crawling son ignores it. His sitting twin is the one who loves it (but never tries to crawl after it)

3) the voice is pretty annoying (par for the course with this type of toy).

That said, this is still a definite keeper at my house.

For whatever reason, one of my sons (9 months old currently) has really taken to it, since around 6 or 7 months (when he started sitting). He doesn't quite get how to press the buttons-- he just mashes the whole ball with his hands, slapping it until he gets the desired response. (But, hey, it works). He doesn't give a hoot about the times it tells you "number 3" or "mooooo" The only thing he cares about is hitting it over and over again until it plays a song (which comes up every 6th sound or so). Then he rocks out.

 "Very Entertaining Ball" 2009-12-02
By D. Erickson (PA, USA)
My son, who is 7 months old really enjoys this ball. It grasps his attention when I turn it on. It rolls in a small circle while singing a song. It then will correspond words and songs with the buttons he pushes. The tags at the top are also nice for the 'tag' loving babies.

I would recommend this ball for babies who like tummy time, and are being encouraged to crawl.

Customer Buzz
 "Fun!" 2009-11-28
By Karen Baker (Brooklyn, NY United States)
I got this as a gift/hand-me-down-- I'm not one to buy talking toys-- and it was really fun for my son for a while. It's just the thing for a crawling baby, it keeps their attention and motivates crawling. The voices are not especially annoying. I don't think babies this age really get any educational value from the numbers and animals, it's just cute and attention-getting. By the time you can identify which thing has lit up, it's rolled to another side and gone, so don't plan on teaching your kid to count with this toy. And once they can walk and throw a ball, you might need to give it away, since it's quite heavy and obviously not for throwing! My neighbor had that issue with her toddler and that's how we came to be the owners of this ball. :-) My son is 15 months and thankfully hasn't tried throwing it yet.

By Grammy M (Santa Cruz, CA USA)
This ball does just what it prmomises! It catches and holds my grandson's attention...makes him reach for it and peaks his curiosity! As others say, it can bump into baby's head at times but for tough little guys it doesn't matter, it's not that hard!

 "Poorly Designed" 2009-11-10
By acm4h (Palmyra, VA)
This toy is colorful and gets babies' attention. However, it asks you to find animals, shapes, numbers, etc. and even I can't find the button it asks for before it's moved on to something else. Very overstimulating! My other big problem is that it's a ball and little kids learn to throw balls, but it's hard plastic and heavy! Nice idea, but I think the design could have been thought out a bit better!
