"It's a bit unwieldy but my son loves it" 2010-01-29

First the downsides:

1) the ball is very heavy. It always seems like it's prone to cause injuries due to its heft (but this has never been an actual problem).

2) I don't really think this does anything to encourage crawling. My crawling son ignores it. His sitting twin is the one who loves it (but never tries to crawl after it)

3) the voice is pretty annoying (par for the course with this type of toy).

That said, this is still a definite keeper at my house.

For whatever reason, one of my sons (9 months old currently) has really taken to it, since around 6 or 7 months (when he started sitting). He doesn't quite get how to press the buttons-- he just mashes the whole ball with his hands, slapping it until he gets the desired response. (But, hey, it works). He doesn't give a hoot about the times it tells you "number 3" or "mooooo" The only thing he cares about is hitting it over and over again until it plays a song (which comes up every 6th sound or so). Then he rocks out.

 "Very Entertaining Ball" 2009-12-02
By D. Erickson (PA, USA)
My son, who is 7 months old really enjoys this ball. It grasps his attention when I turn it on. It rolls in a small circle while singing a song. It then will correspond words and songs with the buttons he pushes. The tags at the top are also nice for the 'tag' loving babies.

I would recommend this ball for babies who like tummy time, and are being encouraged to crawl.

 "Fun!" 2009-11-28
By Karen Baker (Brooklyn, NY United States)
I got this as a gift/hand-me-down-- I'm not one to buy talking toys-- and it was really fun for my son for a while. It's just the thing for a crawling baby, it keeps their attention and motivates crawling. The voices are not especially annoying. I don't think babies this age really get any educational value from the numbers and animals, it's just cute and attention-getting. By the time you can identify which thing has lit up, it's rolled to another side and gone, so don't plan on teaching your kid to count with this toy. And once they can walk and throw a ball, you might need to give it away, since it's quite heavy and obviously not for throwing! My neighbor had that issue with her toddler and that's how we came to be the owners of this ball. :-) My son is 15 months and thankfully hasn't tried throwing it yet.

 "crawl ball" 2009-11-16

This ball does just what it prmomises! It catches and holds my grandson's attention...makes him reach for it and peaks his curiosity! As others say, it can bump into baby's head at times but for tough little guys it doesn't matter, it's not that hard!

 "Poorly Designed" 2009-11-10
By acm4h (Palmyra, VA)
This toy is colorful and gets babies' attention. However, it asks you to find animals, shapes, numbers, etc. and even I can't find the button it asks for before it's moved on to something else. Very overstimulating! My other big problem is that it's a ball and little kids learn to throw balls, but it's hard plastic and heavy! Nice idea, but I think the design could have been thought out a bit better!
