We bought this for my 3 year old son, who watches his older brother play with his Nintendo DS and desperately wanted one of his own. He loves his Leapster2. This is a pretty durable game system and has been dropped on a tile floor twice already, with no major problems, except the pen broke in half ( a bit of super-glue and it is fine). My only major complaint is that the display screen is just TERRIBLE. When my son brings it to me for some help, I have to tip it back and forth over and over again to even figure out what is on the screen. Now I know this is not meant to me a real "gamer" system, but you would think the display would be better for the price. If anyone has any insider tips on how to see the screen better, please share!
I like the fact that you can track their learning, etc. but I would gladly trade that in for a better quality game system.

It's a great toy if you looking for a handheld that contains more educational software for it than the PSP or the DS.

My son is 5 and he loves his Leapster he got for Christmas. He has already picked up on the games. I do suggest parents buying the adapter for the Leapster. It is about $10. That way you don't have to worry about buying batteries.

I was excited to purchase 2 Leapster for my son and my nephew for X-Mas. They are both 4 years old. They both like it very much. However after 1 week of playing with the system, the system died. The system doesn't turn off. I had changed the batteries 2-3 times but still now working.

We bought two, one for a 5 year old and one for a 3 year old, my kids love the leapster2. it is intuitive, they turn it on and can play every game that came loaded with the original software. they enjoy hours of play and they are quiet the whole time :)
