My 22 month old recieved this as a gift for Christmas. He loves how it says his name, and he loves how it tells him it likes to eat potatoes like he does.
USB cord is short, but really it doesnt need to be long. It is only needed to configure the thing for a very short time. Rest of the time they toy is in play. Its not like its a vaccuum cleaner that needs the length of anything.
I didnt know how much the toy was until I came to leave a review, and I was really suprised how cheap it was, I would have thought at least twice as much. It is great value for $20.
Only one issue, one arm is starting to come unstitched. I will find out just how good customer support at leapfrog is. I hope its good, because we have bought alot of their toys over the years.

I bought this for my 18 month old grandson.He loves it. You can program it to say their name and also their favorite food! His is grilled cheese and when the puppy says it my grandson laughs and smiles. It plays songs and has a real cute clear voice. He wakes up and presses the paws and is entertained till my daughter gets him up.It really is"his pal" Scout! I paid a lot to get it for Christmas but usually Target has it in the store for 15 bucks. Benny's stores too.

We bought this for our 9-month old son. He likes the light on the collar, and he listens to the songs, but he isn't drawn to the toy like he is with shape-shorters and smaller things that he can hold in his hand.
The online customization is nice- the dog says our son's name fine, but it's a conventional name. It plays a lot of songs and makes fun noises, and the quality of the toy is very good. Hopefull our son will like it more as time goes on. I think he's too young to appreciate it right now.

LeapFrog continues to provide good toys. This one is softer than the traditional "frog"....not as loaded with options, but keeps a toddler's interest.

This toy is adorable, snuggly, and a lot of fun. The best part about the toy is that you can connect it to software and personalize it with most children's names. Unfortunately, the names of my six-month-old twins are pronounced so that they sound like a question every time they're used. My two- and four-year olds are always hugging and playing with these toys as well.
The voices of Scout and Violet sound the same. I wasn't sure about Scout for one of my girl twins, but I shouldn't have worried--he doesn't seem too boyish at all.
Overall, I love these toys. They're cute, soft, and entertaining. The bedtime music helps settle down my girls and puts them to sleep.
