I purchased this gift for my great niece for Christmas. She has a fasination for violins, but I'm not sure where that came from. She was so excited when she opened it! I actually saw her about a month later and she was still playing with it.

As a violinist myself, I got this violin for my 3 year old son to introduce him to the violin since he likes to watch me. For a toy, it is not as durable as I would have liked since it will probably end up in the toy box eventually. It is very loud with no volume, which is a little annoying and it definately does not play in tune (for you musicians) which is more annoying for me than my son. The bow needs to be bounced on the strings to play the music so my son usually just uses the demo button most of the time. Overall, he does really like playing with it and as a toy, it does it's job as the most realistic looking, compared to others on the market and as an introduction NOT the actual instrument.

I was really excited to purchase this for my son. He loves listening to my violin and trying to play it. When he opened this on Christmas he was really excited. But it doesn't play all the time, if the strings or the bow gets alittle bit of dirt on them it stops playing. Or some times it doesn't even play and all I have to do is switch the batteries around. I am really considering getting him a real violin I think it would be more worth my money.

Christmas morning, my 2.5 year old son pulled the violin out the box and instantly loved it. My son is a huge music fan and now I get to be in his band every few days or so. The product seems to be really durable. We purchased a guitar and the strings broke within the first two days. So knock on wood, the violin should last a few months. Yay!!

The picture and write up make this violin seem much more than
it really is. The sound quality is good, although using the
bow and strings does not always produce music.
