 "Awesome for Kids" 2010-04-11

Bought this for my 10 year old daughter. She loves it, and so do her two older sisters. The youngest dedicated the bank to be the puppy fund, and has each of her older sisters, and Mom and Dad, pitching in. The feedback from the digital display that tells you the coin value you just inserted, plus the running total, really encourages the kids to save. The kids, and parents, were all amazed at how fast the coins add up to some real cash. This kind of positive reinforcement has altered my children's tendency to earn-and-spend, to an earn-and-save strategy. Given the assorted change we've been feeding the bank, we've found it will hold about $130.

 "Magic Money Jar" 2010-02-01

I've given this as presents many times to children age 5 and up. They always enjoy watching their money grow, and it grows to a sizable amount. One recipient always asks for a roll of quarters for any occasion when she receives presents. It's a wonderful tool for helping children learn the value of saving.

I finally bought one for myself and put my change in it at the end of the day. When I reach $200 or as much as it will hold, I'll put it in my savings account and start again. Even I find it fun watching it grow. And better than saving in an old can because you know how much your total is every day.

 "would do it again . . ." 2010-01-05

I offered a review on this item with another store

[...]

and couldn't find a way to update it . . .

not one hour after reviewing it, my daughter called to tell me something she discovered . . .

coins are a little hard to insert (which is good) but she discovered that if a coin is only partially insterted, it counts odd as it counts by the width of the coin . . . so if a quarter is partially inserted, the amount is defined by how much of the coin was inserted before it counts.

Still love it and would buy more for other people and am going to buy one for me and only hope it works as well!

 "Waste of $$" 2009-10-12

I just wanted to be able to count the loose change we had. It regularly does not register dimes or nickels. Total waste of 12 bucks. Try a dept store version. Dont buy this.

 "Bank" 2009-04-21

We love this bank. It counts all the money for you and shows you in digital on the top. My son loves putting his money in it and seeing how much he's saved. We've had it for 2 years, I believe, and the battery has just started running down so it's time to replace it. There's a reset button on the underneath part of the lid that resets your count to 0 if you need to. Sometimes when you go to put the money in and don't push hard enough to push it through it will count it as going in even though you didn't get it in. When that happens, though, I just take the lid off and drop it in. It's a good product and fun for the kids. Especially the ones who may not be old enough to count money yet.
