"Fun fast paced word game" 2009-10-08
By Michael Ceciliani (New York City)
I bought this game on a hunch that it might click with my gaming group. My hunch was right. This is very popular with my gaming group who are quite the wordsmiths. The rules are simple, come up with a common word of five or more letters when the two letters are revealed. First one to shout it out gets the letters. If no one gets it, move on to the next set and the one who calls out an acceptable word then gets all four letters. In our group, you must wait for both letters to be announced before you can answer. The one with the most letters when the device runs out is the winner.

There are no Qs, Xs or Zs, but all the other letters are there. Some letter combinations provide a challenge, like E and O. We almost moved on to the next set before I called out embryo. The only bad thing is in this game, soft spoken people may be drowned out by louder voices when answering. Other than that, a great game where if you snooze, you lose.

"Incredible and Mind Blowing Fun for anyone that puts their brain up to the challenge." 2009-04-11
By Mitchel Devin (Ontario, CA USA)
This is one of the best games I have ever played. If you think you have a gift of spelling, vocabulary, and writing, this is the ultimate test of that intellect. Forget scrabble, you won't get that much time to think with Smart Mouth. This game is also great if your blind. I played with a group of friends and one of them was blind and he was just making other peoples vocabularies, wit and intellect seem sluggish. I also played my aunt who is an expert scrabble player, she knows words that are not even in the known English dictionary and not only did she just about beat me, she fell in love with the game instantly. It will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat and make parts of your brain hurt that never hurt before. Its fun for everyone in the family or at the party that has a Smart Mouth

 "Great Family Game" 2008-11-17
By Learning All The Time (USA)
My whole family enjoys this simple vocabulary game. The set up is very similar to Zingo, except instead of the handle sliding forward and releasing two bingo chips, it releases two letters.

Players need to think of a word that begins with the first letter and ends with the second. We require 4 letters from our kids, and 5 or more adults. You can bend the rules even more for an early reader and allow them to call out 3 letter words. The first person to shout out their word takes the letters, and at the end of the game, the player with the most chips wins.

You may think that the adults always win, but that is not the case! My youngest has a photographic memory and he gives us all a run for our money. And adults can sometimes just blank on a word while the kids have one on the tip of their tongue. The result is that everyone plays feeling like they have a decent shot at winning.

My husband likes this game because it is pretty quick, we can play a round in less than 10 minutes. My youngest really likes sorting the chips and putting them in the handle, and sliding it forward to release the letters. The middle kids like the challenge of trying to come up with words first, and I like the fact the whole family plays it together!

"Good idea, but too hard" 2008-01-13

This is a great idea for a game, but even when playing with just adults it can sometimes be very hard and frustrating. But it does work your brain and can be interesting.

 "Good brain strain motivator" 2007-06-26
By Sandra K. OConnor (Waco, TX)
Have been using this game as a kinesthetic approach to vocabulary study/enhancement. Very good brain stimulation. May be difficult for some students, however, for any possibility of dual beginning letters(sounds)and/or endings may appear. Yet once students get the hang of the game (which happens rather quickly), it is quite a learning tool. There are few parts, no multiple stimulating/distracting items (such as timers, dice, or beepers) so participants can learn to focus on the objective only. Great for a middle school or high school class.
