"does NOT work in the cybor pocket version" 2010-04-15
By Lisa Paulino (Saratoga NY USA)
I made the mistake of thinking this was going to work in my two children's VTech Cybor pocket games. When will they come up with a version for ours? we go through LOTS of batteries. Gets costly to the parents. The directions instruct NOT to use rechargeable batteries. Why?

 "no luck" 2010-02-08
By St. Louis Mom (St. Louis MO)
This product does not work on the v smile pocket that it advertises for I bought three and my children have not been able to use them. Very disappointed. It is suppose to work on all v smile pocket and it only works on the ones with the blue buttons if yours has orange buttons like mine then you are out of luck.

 "Didnt work for me" 2010-02-04
By Jeanne M. Capella (Gretna, LA)
I bought it thinking it would work and didnt fit our VTech V.Smile Pocket. You got to make sure that your V.Smile pocket is able to use the power pack.

"Power Pack is a definate must buy!!!" 2009-12-22
By Michael Myer (Fort Lee, VA United States)
Our sons V Pocket seemed to have problems with shutting off in the middle of games. It did it with new batteries and even with the adapter wall plug in. I purchased the power pack about 4 months ago.And it seems to have taken away all of the problems. My son plays his v pocket everyday. He takes it on trips to the store, resteraunts, and vacations. And can play for a long time. When I put him to bed at night I just put it on the charger. And when he gets up , it's ready to go again.:)

 "At least I'm not alone.... :-)" 2009-07-27
By Norene M. Parker (Ellicott City, MD United States)
We got our first portable V-Smile some years back, and I got the charger at the same time. Ours is pretty darn finicky. A child could never get it to work. I found I have to put rubber bands (STRONG ONES) to hold the unit on that stand and then unplug and replug the cord in the back a few times before it will start up. That usually works. Once it a while it looses contact during the charge, so we mostly use the Leapster now. He has several of them (he's severly handicapped and can't do much else and cannot have anything with small pieces, yet loves noise and games and Sponge Bob...at 24 years old! : I should mention that the Original Leapster charger worked better than the one they sell now for the Leapster 2....might have to get out the rubber bands again. I sure hope not.

But recently I got him the newer V-Smile Cyber Pocket. Apparently they are not going to even make a charger for it. Just a plug in cord. Not something any parent would give to a child who is at the developmental age to enjoy this toy, for sure! I liked the cover over the screen on the newer version, the design under it is just plain stupid. A big blank white square in the middle of the button area and the screen in the "lid". I had hoped it was a touch pad, but I guess I should have known better.

I didn't give the VSmile Charger as low a grad as I was tempted to, because I must admit the charger Pack's batteries have lasted over two years and it's Still going.... Wish I oculd say the same thing for the newer model, but it just EATS batteries. Also the volume is even louder than the first one, and I didn't think that was possible! He has to be supervised at all times and those "tunes" are just bouncing around in my head exploding for days after only a few hours. I can't leave the room/car/etc to escape it and he figures out the volume control first thing, just to see how loud he can be (he can't talk, either, poor thing!). These folks designing these V Smile toys need to learn that too much of a good thing will chase the adults away and the kids sure don't buy these items....:-) With the cost of cartidges and everything like that, you can easily run up $100 for your inital toy. I don't like to pay that kind of money for something that is going to drive me over the edge...:-)
