My daughter received this for Christmas along with 4 additional cartridges. She loves it, but it simply stopped working today. A couple of the cartridges work sometimes, but definitely not enough to keep the product. I called VTech and their customer service seems great. They don't have anymore VTech Create-A-Story consoles, but are sending me one replacement cartridge to test. If it doesn't work, I've been told they'll give me a credit and that I just need to return the product. The only downside is that I have to pay shipping to return the product.

I WOULD LIKE TO THROW THIS PRODUCT IN THE TRASH. MY DAUGHTER RECEIVED IT LAST CHRISTMAS, NEARLY 11 MONTHS AGO NOW. I HAVE ALREADY RETURNED IT FOR A REPLACEMENT SINCE IT SIMPLY STOPPED WORKING. NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE THE DARN THING AGAIN BECAUSE MY DAUGHTER JUST RECEIVED TWO NEW BOOKS AND THE INSTANT WE PUT THE NEW CARTRIDGES IN IT REFUSED TO TURN ON. [...] CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EXTREMELY NICE AND WILL REPLACE THE ENTIRE ITEM EASILY WHICH LEAVES ME WONDERING IF THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. WE HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY GENTLE WITH THIS PRODUCT AND DO NOT USE IT THAT FREQUENTLY...PROBABLY ONCE EVERY OTHER WEEK. WE EVEN KEEP IT IN ITS ORIGINAL BOX. IT IS A FUN PRODUCT AND MY DAUGHTER LOVES IT. I SERIOUSLY DOUBT IT WILL TEACH HER TO READ BUT HAND EYE COORDINATION IS IMPORTANT AND IT TEACHES THAT. THIS PRODUCT HAS IRKED ME ONE TOO MANY TIMES AND I HAVE SERIOUSLY NEVER HAD THIS MANY TROUBLES WITH A PRODUCT. IF MY DAUGHTER HAD NOT RECENTLY RECEIVED TWO NEW BOOKS THAT SHE HAS NOT YET USED I WOULD HAVE SIMPLY THROWN THE PRODUCT AWAY INSTEAD OF REPLACING IT AGAIN. I CAN TELL YOU WITH NO UNCERTAINTY THAT I HATE THIS PRODUCT!

I purchased the create-a-story as a requirement for my son's daycare center. He is 3 years old and this is one of the learning tools they use at his school. Being that he recently turned 3 it is kind of hard to keep his attention because he wants to use the pen to point at the objects he wants to point at rather than what the book is telling him to point at. If he was a little more mature (maybe 4 or 5), this is a great learning tool. I don't get a chance to actually see him use it in school but all of the children have them so hopefully he follows instructions a little better than he did at home.

I got this one for my son to help him build up language...he loves it!. I just order some new books for it from amazon.com where else would I get such a deal...it's just the wire that connects to tv slot is making a little annoying noise and is kind of loose...battery power is not that long lasting either

This Vtech toy was received very well by my 5 year old niece. She picked it up very quick and wanted new books to insert right away. The storys read a bit quick but I think she will be smart enough to pick it up.
