 "Great Investment" 2009-08-12

I bought this for my daughter when she just turned 3 last year. It is the only toy that she still has interested in playing until now. She still likes it but I think she has learned everything from it already. So we bought her a more advance children computer last month. My daughter has learned all her letters from this computer since she was three. This computer is super durable and the condition looks almost new. I highly recommend it. It's handy and pretty to carry around (esp. on the road), like a little purse for my girl. The screen might be a little small but she has no problem reading from it. [...]

"Lots of games for such a small package" 2009-07-26
By Noname
My 5 year old daughter bought the Barbie and the Diamond Castle laptop with her own money. I have to say, it was a good purchase, since she's gotten hours of enjoyment from it.

The laptop is small and lightweight, measuring only 7 ½" x 6 ½" x 1 ¼". The screen is like all other toys of this type, a tiny 2" black and white LCD.

The sound is a little loud for my taste. If you are in a quiet environment, like a doctor's office, better not take this along with you. There is no headphone jack nor volume control nor mute button. The music is electronically synthesized like in most children's toys, and most adults find that annoying. The children, of course, love it!

The princess's voice is not crystal clear. It has the fuzzy muffled electronic tone to it. As I was playing, the princess asked me to find the letter "B" and I thought I heard "D." I think it could be a little confusing to children who are just learning the alphabet.

The keyboard is laid out in alphabetical order with the consonants in blue and the vowels in yellow. The numbers are above that. Numbers one through six are in different shapes and colors. Above that are a choice of eight different games:

1) Castle ABC's: child must find a letter on the keyboard.

2) Gem Trove: child counts gems along with the princess and then must find the number on the keypad. Then, the princess says, "If I add [insert number] more gems [gems are added on the screen], how many gems do we have?"

3) Shape Kingdom: child must find the shape on the keypad which the princess verbally asks for and is also displayed on the screen.

4) Pretty Shape Counting: child must find the shape that the princess asks for and press it X number of times.

5) Treasure Pieces: child is presented with a sequence of letters (for instance, "A B _ D") and she must find the missing letter.

6) Tip Top Perfect: child spots the odd number or letter out. For instance, "Y Y O Y."

7) Charismatic Memory: a simple simon type game using the numerical keypad.

8) Musical Quest: three letters float on the screen to form a word. The child must remember that word and spell it.

The games are not difficult. If the child doesn't answer correctly after a few tries, the answer is given to her.

This is a good educational toy for preschoolers. It looks built for them, too; as the case looks like it can take a beating. I'd recommend it for every budding princess.

"My 3 year old LOVES it!" 2009-01-11
By M. Pizana (Indiana, USA)
I purchased this for my 3 year old. She simply loves the larger barbie laptop her 5 year old cousin has. I was disappointed with the size but she didnt seem to mind but I found that this size fits in her backpack a whole lot better . It is educational and a bit challenging for her age but she does well.

I highly recommend this.

 "Great learning tool" 2009-01-07

My preschooler is familiarizing herself with the alphabet so this is perfect. It has enough games to keep her busy and the laptop is sturdy to withstand a 1yr old.
