This is the second "Kid PC" I have tried. It's hard to allow little ones on a real PC without risking damage, so I hoped this would have worked out. My 3 year old really wanted to enjoy it but ended up being frustrated with the lack of variety, and difficulty in using it. My 8 year old, with some effort was able to master the mouse but the pen was still too difficult. She was dissapointed that more thought and common sense wasn't put into the games. Games were very limited with minimal content.

For 3 and up... love this. Good for introducing kids to computer/mouse/keyboard. Games are basic quality for graphics--remember its not an xbox! My 4yr old twins love it, graphics are good enough for them. On the flip side... I've now had 2 of them. 1st one broke w/in 2 months (keyboard). Vtech mailed me a new one. 2nd one broke w/in 6 months (game cartridge unit). I bought several games, and will look for another one off of craigs list or at a garage sale. When it works, its great.

I thought this would be a great toy for my son because he is always trying to type on my computer and he loves to play the games on the library computer. He was very excited to use it but it has provided more frustration than anything else. The mouse is difficult for me to control and next to impossible for a 3 year old, the touch pad and pen are barely adequate, and the selection of games is limited (keep in mind that the games that come with it are the only ones that work with it). The unit can play regular V-Smile games but nothing except the joystick and touch pad work with other games. I am not sure I will ever buy anything from V-Tech again.

I got this for my son for his 3nd birthday. i got three games for it. he loved the games and was real excited.. then it stopped working at first we thought it was the batteries but after trying different batteries we realized it just died and stopped working. The good news is all the games we bought can be used with the v tech handheld also and you can plug that into the tv too, he loved the hand held more so Im actually glad the other one broke.

I bought this and a Pocket V-Smile brand new from Toys R Us for my kids for Christmas this past year, and by May both were dead. The PC Pal lasted barely five months, and the Pocket V-Smile lasted only three. Within the same week, both units just died - they fail to power on either with batteries or AC Adapter. And now we have seven coasters that used to be game cartridges (fortunately most of them were bought used so the amount of wasted money isn't as bad as it could have been).
Needless to say, the reliability of VTech products is pathetic, to say the least. While they were functional my kids had fun with them, but I'd never throw good money after bad by buying another one.
