"Good Idea - Poor Implementation" 2010-07-10
By Bryan Cox (Denver, CO)
The software is useless without the keyboard correctly position over the regular keyboard. The keyboard is a pain in the rear to put on top of a regular keyboard. In addition, there is no software to help you align the keyboard correctly. For instance, say the tester presses the red triangle button - the software can tell which way to move the keyboard. Or better yet, it would be better if Fisher-Price provided their own keyboard that the user can just plug into a USB outlet (this would make the toy alot better).

My suggestion: Stay way from this toy.

 "hard to use" 2010-05-01
By Jennifer McDonald (Colorado Springs, CO)
Because the product keyboard has to fit over your own computer keyboard, set up is a pain! If you don't set it up EXACTLY where it needs to be, some buttons don't work as they should. Once you get it set up correctly, hope all the playing won't knock it out of alignment. I also have trouble getting the height correct. If it is set too high, the plastic pins won't push the computer keys and nothing will happen, if it is too low, the product keyboard rests on keys and keep them depressed. With my keyboard, the cord is also an issue. the leg of the child keyboard is right where the cord comes out of my keyboard.

On the very positive side, this product has been a favorite of my son's. We got it two years ago when he was only 18 months old and he loves to play with it when I am in the mood to set it up. I believe it has helped him learn his letters and letter sounds, and he loves making things happen by pushing the correct buttons.

Truthfully, there are many other products out there that likely are more user friendly.

 "Fun for kids" 2010-02-01
By Vane (Chile)
I loved the keybord for my son, I only have a little problem with the real keybord, since it does not fit on it a 100%. So when my son gets to involved and startes banging a bit harder it slips and does not pich the right keys. But he enjoyes it, conected as well as anywhere in the house.

"Not bad for the price" 2009-11-15
By Kimberly Reinhardt (Midland, MI)
I would have gladly paid a big more for this if the keyboard would have a USB plug into the computer. Setting it up and taking it down is a hassle to get it exactly right and to have the space on your table/desk for it all. A plug and play keyboard would have been worth paying extra for the program.

Parental comment: We have had this for over one year now. This is a wonderfully produced computer learning game. While having fun the toddler learns their ABC & 123. Gentle animated playfriends encourage the child to move from activity to activity. This is for the beginner. It has its own (fit over your adult keypad) child friendly keypad. Happy music. Nicely done.

In regards to the autism community; This has proven to be a very engaging computer game play/learning instument. It has helped her progress in her alphabet & numbers identification. It is soothing and not overwhelming. Highly recommended.
