Maybe your kids can use joysticks with no issue. Well my daughter couldn't. She would probably do better with it now that she's a little older but the console itself stopped working about a year after we bought it. Complete waste of money. My daughter didn't learn a thing from using the console because she struggled with the controls nearly the entire time.

I was one of the First ones to say the VSMILE was Amazing, and it was until I realized it had a life span that was waaaay to short. I have had 2 go out. Yes I was dumb enough to purchase TWO. Mainly because I had purchsed over the value of the system in games. I had over 10 games that I got for my Girls, Well when you have that much in games sitting around and they have nothing to play them on, (What would you have done) Well we have the games the joystick 2 consoles now that are both broken, and the power adapter all that I purchsed for this thing. The joystick is ok if you have a console that still works, and if it still works, enjoy it while you can.

The on/off buttons are a joke. We are now on our second Vsmile. I thought maybe the kids did something to the first Vsmile, but lo and behold the on switch only works when it wants to. There are many times when you have to restart the system because it freezes in the middle of a game. I haven't had trouble with the joysticks like many others, but overall I would caution anyone away from the product. Too bad, too, because if it would work for more than a week or two, I would give this system 5 stars!

If my four year old son has no problems operating this joystick, I can't see where there are too many problems with it. I believe it was well designed for children in its size and ease of operation. I will say, however, that I was amused with the fact that it swivvles to either a right-handed joystick or a left-handed joystick.
Having grown up in a right-hand world, I can admit that I don't tend to like anything "left-handed" friendly. I can't stand left-handed scissors or fishing rods and although left-handed spirals are neat, they aren't all that necessary. Sooner or later your going to wind up on the back page and the spiral will once again be flipped.
In any case, I did test out the joystick myself and after trying to figure out which side was "left-handed" (probably in the manual I chose to skip), I came to no conclusions, and fixed it back to its original configuration (my son is right-handed by the way).
So is there a specific side for either hand? I haven't the slightest. I could've gotten used to either/or and considering my son is four and coincidentally has the attention span of a four year old, I'm sure he could've gotten used to either side too.

I have had no problems with the game system or any of the games but we have gone through 3 different joysticks in less than a year. My son takes very good care of his game system and joysticks and he dosent' really use them all that much. I am going to try the v-smile pocket so he can still play his games but I refuse to shell out anymore money on these crappy joysticks that only last a few months.
