 "Not worth the money" 2010-08-01
By N. A. Carr (Orange, CA)
For what you would pay for this camera, it is really not worth it. Quite a while ago I had put this on my daughter's wishlist and she had received it as a Christmas present. Now I'm sorry that my Mom shelled out the money for this. It's fun enough for my daughter but I think the picture quality is really bad--and I don't expect superb quality for a kid's camera, but this is ridiculous. It will hold about 450 pictures. It takes FOUR AAA batteries and it eats through them like crazy! Seriously, batteries do NOT last long in this thing--maybe a couple days if she's using it a lot. I also don't like that you have to find a screwdriver every time you want to change out batteries in a child's toy nowadays. There has got to be something better out there. You should pass this one up!

"Not so durable, poor quality" 2010-04-14
By Sandra Mottola (PA)
We got these for our kids and they tore through batteries. After a few weeks they just stopped working. I kept changing the batteries thinking that was the problem, but it wasn't. The picture quality was horrible and my kids had a hard time getting their hands positioned to take a picture. We eventually got them a cheaper "Real" camera and so far so good. No problems with the real cameras, they haven't been lost or damaged. I would suggest getting a cheaper brand camera to give to your kids.

 "battery killer" 2010-03-14
By Rebecca Longo (Maryland)
This toy eats batteries within one use of the camera. It is so frustrating and expensive. We would put brand new batteries in the camera, take it out for a day at the zoo and by the time we were in the car heading home the camera was dead. The picture quality is terrible so it is not good for kids over 5 yrs. The flash whites everything out so you have to teach your child how to aim the camera for the flash. But like I said it is good for toddlers but not older kids who actually want to see their pictures. The battery defect is something I cannot over look though and because of that I gave this 1 star. I would not waste my money on this product.

"please read this, it will help you..." 2010-02-20
By Dama (Puerto Rico)
I buy this for my two little daughters for x mas. They were so exited but when i turn it on it didnt work :( so i take it back to the store and get another one. And when i put the batteries it did exactly the same (make a little noise and turn off) Then i remember that something like this happend to me before with another item and it was all because of the batteries... belive it or not it has to use brand batteries to work... i buy some brand ones and it work perfectly. But still... they dont last to much so i buy some rechargables batteries and it was the best idea ever. It worked nice still is. About the quality of the picture dont expect to find a beautiful one like in the real ones remember this is a kids camera for they to PLAY and have fun so... hope this help you i wish someone have told me this before i take it back to the store oh well ... things that parents has to live :P ...

 "grandparent" 2010-01-30
By Susie Que (York, PA, USA)
I bought this camera for my granddaughter for Christmas because my daughter wanted her to have a waterproof camera.

I could have gotten the present model for $24 dollars less. So far this camera seems to go through batteries pretty quickly. If she takes a picture too close up it is wiped out by the flash. She likes it so that is what matters.

"Great starter camera for kids" 2010-06-06
By John P. Flaherty III (North Grafton, MA USA)
This is a great starter camera for young kids. In my opinion, durability and simplicity are the most important qualities for kids' cameras and this camera has both of these. It is extremely durable -- my 3-year old treats this camera with no care whatsoever and it still keeps working. The camera is very easy to learn how to use -- both my 3-year old and my 6-year old learned how to use this within a few minutes of instruction from me.

Although the picture quality is not super, it is adequate for its intended purpose and price range (you can't expect 10 megapixel quality in this price range). To me, the key is that the kids enjoy the camera, and this camera does the job. My kids love playing with this camera and it helps teach them the basics about photography. The photos look better on the computer than they do on the viewer screen built into the camera.

"Why such a small shutter button" 2010-01-14
By ChemistryGuy (Royal Oak, MI)
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3KQZXV9YS37NH First time using the webcam - glasses reflection is distracting, sorry. More eye contact would be good, too. Everything I say about the camera is true, however. I really hope there are better first cameras out there.

 "Don't waste your money" 2010-01-11
By C. LeMay (Newport Center, VT USA)
I bought two of these cameras for my daughter and son (5.5 & 4-years-old) last Christmas. The pink one never seemed to work, it wouldn't stay on. When my son would take pictures, it would have to be the perfect light or you wouldn't see the image. Also the resolution is terrible. The photos taken were awful. They were not clear. Just because it is a child taking the photo does NOT mean that it shouldn't be quality. When my kids take pictures with my real digital camera, they are great. Kids can take great photos but NOT with this camera.

I wished that I would have put the money I spent on the two cameras and bought one real camera for the two of them to share.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS CAMERA.

I only rated this item one star because they wouldn't let me post with no stars.

"durable, easy to use- but one BIG shortcoming" 2009-12-25
By T. Yuen (PA, USA)
A lot of people rave about this toy and how easy it is, but I think there are a few serious drawbacks. One is in fact a safety issue which makes it a pretty big deal.

Pros:

1. I agree with all the five star reviews that praise this camera's durability. This toy will probably last longer than any other item my son currently plays with. It is built to last.

2. Easy to use- my 3 year old was able to pretty much master the buttons and start taking pictures within 30 minutes. For myself, I opened the box, put in batteries and was ready to go, very intuitive.

3. Very kid friendly and my son loved it and wanted to take pictures of everything right away.

Cons:

1. BIG DRAWBACK AND CONCERN: The flash is extremely bright and powerful. But there is NO way to turn off the flash function. There were a few times while my son was getting familiar with the camera's use (not really ever having used one before except mine with my help) when he turned the camera around and accidentally hit the shutter button and had this extremely bright flash go off right in front of his eyes. He complained of having trouble seeing for a few HOURS after this and that his eyes hurt. Even after I covered the flash with tape and construction paper it still gives off a bright flash. We also have a young baby at home and a few times, innocently he wanted close up pictures of his baby brother. So now we've basically limited him to using it only in bright daylight and if his baby brother isn't around. The camera's shutter speed and aperture are set so that you pretty much need the flash except in outdoor sunlight conditions, anything else without the flash is dark and almost unrecognizable. So when we were finally able to completely block out the flash for safety reasons the camera became unusable. I think this is a really big design flaw, at the very least give the parents an OPTION to turn off the flash or make the flash not as bright. Of course if your child is old enough to be careful and responsible enough not to point it at a baby or himself/herself then it's fine- but by that point they probably could be using a real camera. I don't think it's a lot to ask to simply have an 'off' switch for the camera flash given that repeated exposure to that magnitude of flash certainly has potential to cause eye damage.

2. Big battery drain, have to replace batteries almost weekly. The cost of 4 AAA batteries each week adds up.

3. I found that, at least for my son (3 years old) the pictures display too briefly after the shutter button is clicked, this is also not adjustable (yes I know this is a kid's camera), but I think the lag time should be a little longer. Most of the time, by the time my son hit the button and looked down, the picture was gone- which takes a lot out of fun out of the camera for the kids to see the picture they just took.

In conclusion, I think for a child 4-5 years old this is a great, durable, simple camera. But you really must have a child that can use the camera with some responsibility and care, certainly NOT for 3 year olds (as the packaging suggests). The intense and powerful flash that cannot be turned off, I believe is a hazard not just to a young child using it but even an older child who may take picture of young children/babies and doesn't understand that the flash may hurt their eyes.

"Does not stay on!!!!!! DO NOT BUY" 2009-11-17
By Happy mom
This camera is terrible. We got it as a big brother present for our son and he was so excited... It upset me when he became so upset because it wouldn't stay on long enough for him to take a picture of his new baby sister. This was a great idea but a TERRIBLE BUY, WASTE OF MONEY! I hate nothing more than to see my kids cry and this stupid camera wont even power on not to mention the battery life does suck. I am going to try to take it back. Do not buy!
