unlike some toys, the notes are right on key. Don't be intimidated. You do not need to know all the notes. One day I was listening to some music with my then 5month son and I was hitting any notes (legs) and my son was loving it on key or off key (mostly waaay off note)



It's durable. Had it for 9 month and still in a good shape.

My 2 month old loves this ocotpus. He stares at it and when we play music, he'll laugh and talk. When he's crying on his swing or in his carseat, we'll just plop it on his lap and he'll stop and stare and start talking. Its so cute. It doesn't always work but it works often enough that it is already worth the price. It is a great way to play with your baby.



I don't mind the limited music library as I can make up my own tunes and the baby doesn't care if you're off key.



The only thing that is bothersome is some of the legs are hard to squeeze to make sounds even for adults which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

I was really excited when we received the Octotunes as a gift for my son. While the toy is terrific in theory, it's been kind of a bummer to play with. Kids have little hands, and they can't get a good grip on the tentacles which makes it difficult to play with. I overlooked this, thinking that I could play the songs for my son, except the songbook has only 2 songs and the fun ran out pretty quickly. I also found that if you lose the song book, it's almost impossible to find information on the internet. I would have loved if the toy company had created a page in their site where they would post many different songs to play on the Octotunes and the other tune toys.

My 10 months old son loves it. He can't make it sound right now (the toy is a bit big for him and the arms need to be pressed quickly and hard) but that give us chance to play with it together. Our girls got this camera when they were 3.5 and they were probably a bit young. But once they turned around 4 they began to take a lot of interest in taking photos of beloved stuffed animals etc and loved being able to do it. I put a big memory card in it, and so we don't even bother to download the photos. At 4.5 they also discovered the games on it. The camera is not really great as a camera -- though it has a flash it's very weak, and the low-light performance is pretty terrible, compared to our grown-up point-and-shoots. But who cares? The camera is very nicely built and well-designed, and is sturdy and has rubberized edges so it can take a beating. It takes rechargeable batteries.

Buyer beware. My camera was defective and stopped working the third time I tried to turn it on. We tried to fix it by installing new batteries and then jiggling the connections. It worked periodically. After 2 months, it has stopped working all together. We received the cheaper version of this camera as a present and it has so far worked much better. It has fewer options, but actually works.

I'm hoping to buy the Kidizoom Plus for my son's 5th birthday but am confused by the "Plus" version and the "regular" version of the VTech Kidizoom camera. Looks like Amazon sells both, the regular for $50 and the Plus for $79. But when you click on the regular version, all the comments seem to be talking about the Plus version; also the picture itself says "Plus." Is that just a mistake? Is there an actual difference? (I thought the Plus went up to 2mp while the regular was only 0.3 mp resolution.) It's confusing. Can anyone shed some light here? Thanks.

Like chicco's other toys, this one is of very good quality too. It is very sturdy and very colorfull. We bought this toy a few days ago and this is really a great toy. My eight-year-old son was "over it" after about 5 minutes, but it's no big deal because I have him to practice with it on the way to school and as we wait in the car pool line. It's certainly more convenient than flashcards!

The whole family is having fun exercising their brain and going to new levels with the Flashmaster. My 12, 9 and twin 6 year olds are using it every day to improve their math skills and get the basics down. It is a serious toy that challenges you and you don't have to worry about all the extras because there are none! Kids love to learn and you don't always have to get them something cute or pink or full of characters and such to have them get caught up in learning. Kids love to learn more than some adults so be confident when you choose this learning tool and treat it as a valuable tool and share it with your friends (not literally) so they will purchase their own. I have been asked to lend it out but I will not . . . we hate to be without it!
