This product is terrible. The images that it displays can only be seen clearly when the projector is about a foot from the wall. This gives a planet that is an inch or two across. In addition, it is so loud that you can hardly sit beside it to control it. Find something else. Don't waste your money.
And don't think that Discovery Customer Service is going to help you out if you do have a problem. I have been trying to get some information for a while now. The only response I can get is "take it back to the store where you bought it". They won't tell me ANYTHING else. If it were me, I would avoid Discovery products altogether.

Cant see anything, there is a glare from the light source, around the planets, cant control volume.

We bought this for our seven year old this last Christmas. Every night for months afterward (until the first set of batteries died) he would recite to us at bedtime all the facts he learned about the stars, planets, earth, gravity, and the cosmos in general. I thought it would never end. I now know how much I weigh on every planet and moon!
If you have a curious child that wants to know about how the universe works this is an excellent choice. It is not only educational but fun. A very good product for children 6 - 9 years of age.

Thought this would be a fun toy for my son and while he does seem to enjoy it, the images it projects are quite small. Does provide good information on the planets though.

I got this for my son for Christmas and he really enjoys it. It has a lot of nice features and is a good introduction into the solar system. However, 5 is probably a bit young to understand some of the facts. It talks about how many miles in diamater, which a small child just can't understand. He seems to like it though...especially since Star Wars is his latest obsession.
