 "Cute, durable tractor" 2009-03-27

My nephew LOVED this tractor. He loves trucks and watching his dad fix things...so it was perfect. It was a great gift.

"Too Fragile for the Intended Market!" 2009-01-17

My 3 year-old son and his 4 year-old playmate each received a Fix-it-Up Johnny Tractor on the same day and were both delighted. Within 2 days, however, both boys had broken their toys. My son dropped his on a wooden floor from waist height (*his* waist, maybe 18") and broke one of the front axles. It now will no longer roll under its own power. His friend broke the cab roof hinge simply attempting to open it. I wrote the manufacturer via the Learning Curve website describing these events, asking if they would either repair or replace the tractors. No, breakage during use is not covered under warrantee. I then wrote the company president (weeks ago now) asking what he thought, and have yet to receive even an acknowledgement.

Long story short, this toy (labeled as intended for chidren 3+ years) is too fragile for children to play with. Customer support (in my experience) is poor. Learning Curve needs to redesign this toy using more rugged materials and assembly techniques. Until then, I recommend you avoid this toy.

 "Toddler fun, Parent Frustration" 2008-05-25

My two year old son received the Fix-It-Up Johnny Tractor for his birthday from an uncle who farms. He was excited to play with this tractor and "fix it". He loves tinkering with tools "just like daddy". It seemed like a great toy. However, after a couple days of frequent play with the tractor, we noticed some design flaws. First, the top of the storage compartment which holds the screwdriver and gas can is always popping off. We were repeatedly being asked to "put it back" by our son. Finally, after a couple weeks of this, I just threw the compartment cover away, so this issue wouldn't come up again. The other thing that puzzles us about this tractor is how to really get it to start the voice commands which explain what part of the tractor needs to be fixed. It seems all it ever says is: "Guess it's time to power down"...and then it shuts off. When we first received the tractor, it would say things to the effect of fixing bolts, fixing tires, filling it up with gas, etc. Now, it doesn't do anything. We've changed the batteries many times, but it doesn't seem to help. We've had the tractor about two months now, and it has sort of fallen by the wayside in the play room. Our son will occasionally get it out and tinker with it on his own, no sound comes out of the tractor, but he doesn't seem to mind that much. Overall, I think the tractor could use a little more R&D. Good concept, average product.

Christmas present for my 2 year old son. He loves it - it's now late January and he still plays with it daily. Only drawback is the tool storage compartment lid does not stay on making the compartment unusable. I now have the lid taped shut or it's always on the floor. Otherwise great toy.
