 "Cute, durable tractor" 2009-03-27

My nephew LOVED this tractor. He loves trucks and watching his dad fix things...so it was perfect. It was a great gift.

"Too Fragile for the Intended Market!" 2009-01-17
By J. Branch (Washington)
My 3 year-old son and his 4 year-old playmate each received a Fix-it-Up Johnny Tractor on the same day and were both delighted. Within 2 days, however, both boys had broken their toys. My son dropped his on a wooden floor from waist height (*his* waist, maybe 18") and broke one of the front axles. It now will no longer roll under its own power. His friend broke the cab roof hinge simply attempting to open it. I wrote the manufacturer via the Learning Curve website describing these events, asking if they would either repair or replace the tractors. No, breakage during use is not covered under warrantee. I then wrote the company president (weeks ago now) asking what he thought, and have yet to receive even an acknowledgement.

Long story short, this toy (labeled as intended for chidren 3+ years) is too fragile for children to play with. Customer support (in my experience) is poor. Learning Curve needs to redesign this toy using more rugged materials and assembly techniques. Until then, I recommend you avoid this toy.

 "Toddler fun, Parent Frustration" 2008-05-25
By Stephanie L. Cooper (Denver, CO)
My two year old son received the Fix-It-Up Johnny Tractor for his birthday from an uncle who farms. He was excited to play with this tractor and "fix it". He loves tinkering with tools "just like daddy". It seemed like a great toy. However, after a couple days of frequent play with the tractor, we noticed some design flaws. First, the top of the storage compartment which holds the screwdriver and gas can is always popping off. We were repeatedly being asked to "put it back" by our son. Finally, after a couple weeks of this, I just threw the compartment cover away, so this issue wouldn't come up again. The other thing that puzzles us about this tractor is how to really get it to start the voice commands which explain what part of the tractor needs to be fixed. It seems all it ever says is: "Guess it's time to power down"...and then it shuts off. When we first received the tractor, it would say things to the effect of fixing bolts, fixing tires, filling it up with gas, etc. Now, it doesn't do anything. We've changed the batteries many times, but it doesn't seem to help. We've had the tractor about two months now, and it has sort of fallen by the wayside in the play room. Our son will occasionally get it out and tinker with it on his own, no sound comes out of the tractor, but he doesn't seem to mind that much. Overall, I think the tractor could use a little more R&D. Good concept, average product.

Christmas present for my 2 year old son. He loves it - it's now late January and he still plays with it daily. Only drawback is the tool storage compartment lid does not stay on making the compartment unusable. I now have the lid taped shut or it's always on the floor. Otherwise great toy.

Our grandson, the cutest boy in the 5 state area, loves to "mow" alongside of his parents. The realistic sound effects please him very much, and they are quiet enough to keep his parents sane! We were afraid this would be too "young" when we opened the package, but the mower is so much like a real one, the boy absolutely loves it.

"Too small for my 4 yr old" 2009-04-27
By C. Sutherland (Louisville, KY USA)
Only giving it a 1 star because the recommended age range is 2 - 5 and it's entirely too small for my very average sized 4 yr old. Returned the product unopened, but it looked well built.

 "Fun, durable toy" 2010-02-01
By C. Barnes (Omaha, NE USA)
I got this toy as a Christmas gift for my 20-month-old nephew, and he, his 3-year-old sister, and my 22-month-old son ended up fighting over who got to play with it. They were able to share though, since the work bench has a saw, hammer, screw driver, and vice grip to play with. They liked how the nuts and bolts lit up and pounding with the hammer was fun for them. The kids also got a kick out of sawing up and down in the bench's groove. This is a fun, fairly compact activity toy.

Gave as a gift good toy. The only complaint is the magnet is not strong enough to hold the fish very well.

 "little hard to catch" 2009-12-25
By Sandra Mathews (Houston,TX/Africa)
Cute fishing set, especially if you're into the John Deere thing, but the fish are a little hard to catch sice they lay on their sides and the magnet is in the mouth. The addition of the noise and John Deere song make it cute. The other thing that is a little weird is the fishing line doesn't really go up and down very much, just a short distance.

Cute toy, but probably not one that is going to hold a little kids' attention for a super long time.

 "Not so good" 2009-11-09
By C. Samuels (Brooklyn, NY)
I sent back this toy. The fish don't float and the magnetic part is on the tip of the fish which makes it difficult to catch them with the pole.

 "Okay toy" 2009-06-25
By Jamagan
I wasn't at all impressed by this toy fishing set. The magnetic fish sink, so it wasn't feasible to use in a swimming pool. The pole doesn't extend and reel well and kept getting stuck. The line isn't very long.

Overall, just not that great.
