 "a good buy" 2010-01-07
By Christopher Rieger (Cape Girardeau, MO)
Our particular model had no trouble with the wheels, and our 5 year old can operate it fine. He likes using it and should get a few years use out of it, since he can really only do the level one stuff now. The volume is a bit soft, but it's not a big problem. Overall, this is a fun and educational toy.

 "Hard to turn dial" 2009-01-20
By Vicky Garner (Watsonville, CA)
My 8 year old son really liked this toy. I liked it because it had a variety of math problems and three levels of difficulty. However, the dials were extremely difficult to turn, even for an adult. When I took it back to the store owner, she agreed with me and said she would be calling the company to express her disappointment and frustration with the difficulty in turning the dials.

"Does not live up to its claim" 2008-12-29
By C. Kwilinski (Michigan)
The concept behind this toy is a good one; math really can be fun! However this toy has failed in its quality and presentation. First of all, the dials are extremely difficult to turn. My six year old could not do it without my help. Also, the response time (the time between when you "enter" your answer and the time the machine responds to your entry is not instant. The voice is also inaudible some of the times. The math problems are good ones and the three difficulty levels are also well done.

Overall, I would not recommend this product due to usability issues. After all, what good is a good toy, if it is difficult to use?

I will be returning this toy tomorrow. It is worth it to me to pay the shipping fees, than to keep it around knowing it will get little use if any at all.

"Fantastic way to learn Math" 2008-11-30
By SageAcademy (Texas)
As soon as I opened the Lock It In, my kids were all over it. We have tried so many other electronic math helpers, but they have all fallen short of the Lock It In. Usually, you have to type in the largest place value first, but with Lock It In, you can type them in any order. This seems to make the most sense. When you are adding numbers that need to carry, you don't know that you need to carry until after you have added the smaller unit first. How can you answer until you have started with the smaller unit first? If you enter the larger unit first and it's wrong?...you can't correct the error, you just get the problem wrong. Not with Lock It In. It allows you to realize your error, correct your error, LOCK IT IN, and then be graded. A wonderful product that I would recommend for anyone working on their math facts. The kids also like that they can play against each other. ;-)
